Sending alerts after a certain number of minutes doesn’t make a lot of sense because unless I am checking every 1 minute, my site might actually be up when I’m getting alerts that it’s still down. This happens all the time with 10-minute checks. Uptime doesn’t know the site is actually up for up to 10 minutes.
I think alerts should be triggered after an actual failed check. When I get a down alert, the site should actually be down. I know that seems obvious.
If I check every 5 minutes, I’d like to set alerts on the first confirmed failure and every [2] failures after. This would alert me when the site is down and every 10 minutes afterward.
I can schedule this based on my monitoring, If I want alerts every 15 minutes and I have 1-minute checks, I should be able to configure this to send alerts on first failure and every [15] failures after.
Alert on failure [X] and every [Y] failures afterwards.
Escalate on [Z] failures and every [A] failures afterwards.
