The limit on payload size for API checks has been increased.

As an example, you can test this by navigating to an API check or creating a new one, then add a GET step. Add your URL, and within the HTTP Headers section, add up to 4k characters. Repeat this for the next 4 steps.

The same also applies to the Transaction check. In this case, add the first Go To step, enter the URL, and then add up to 8 Set Variable steps, each with 1k characters in the Constant Value box. Then add a final Go To step which will be the same URL.
